Bananas in the Desert: The Power of WaterSOLV and a Desert Microclimate in Phoenix, Az

I get a lot of stunned reactions. People tell me they can’t believe they’re in the desert. They say they’ve never seen a place so green in Arizona. One friend said I was living their hippie dream! I said I think I’m living a lot of people’s hippie dream! But the bananas might be my favorite part. People are shocked to see a bunch of bananas in a clump of trees taller than the house in Phoenix, Arizona. A person that worked for the city saw them and said ‘I’m from Hawaii and this makes me feel like I’m home’.

I purchased my home in 2019, and the yard was mostly chunky gravel on top of thick plastic sheeting. I didn’t remove the rocks, a lot of them are still here. It’s been slow and steady, but the one thing I’ve always used is WaterSOLV. I have hard city water and very clay heavy soil. Some parts of my yard flooded after rainfall, standing water, water runoff, but never since using WaterSOLV. I just had to pour some WaterSOLV onto the puddle and within minutes to a few hours, depending on the area, no more standing water.
The ground continues to stay hydrated, hold water, and stay pouous. I treat potted plants and the soaker hose and drip systems every few months to keep any hard water buildup from forming anywhere, converting the harndess to available nutrition. But even if it does build up, the WaterSOLV BC dissolves it back into soulble availabe nutrition. I don’t deep water at all anymore, I don’t need to, and the vegatation continues to thrive. Anything that has a tap root takes care of itself. The infiltration rate is so quick and deep that even my largest trees are totally saturated with just a few minutes of irrigation. Heat stress tolerance is never a concern becase there are plenty of deep roots, hydration, loaded with soulble, readily available, drinkable nutrients.
I’ve lived here for nearly 7 years, but I only began creating a microclimate in both my front and backyards in the summer of 2024. In that time, I’ve personally planted and irrigated over 30 fruit trees and at least a dozen more ornamentals, plus countless flowers and shrubs, specifically pollinator friendly natives and tropical experiments. For example, I currently have four philodendron Monstera outdoors, two of which are the less hardy Thai constellation variegation, all in the ground, all thriving. I feel like every plant I grow with WaterSOLV is a brand new experiment. It really does re-define what plants are capable of in my experience.

My brother Michael shared the Back to Eden (our last name?! no relation!) Gardening Method with me years ago and in no time I was determined to create a beautiful, productive permaculture food forest. And despite fighting countless battles with aphids of every color, glassy winged sharp shooters, mosquitoes, mealy bugs, spider mites, thrips and so much more, you’ll only find WaterSOLV, diatomaceous earth, and rubbing alcohol in my arsenal. I really don’t see myself ever needing anything else. I’ve got lacewing eggs and praying mantis on the foliage and worms and potato bugs in the soil. I see dragonflies daily. I’m proud to say I found a healthy balance without ever having to use anything harsh or hazardous. I love knowing that WaterSOLV neutralizes the bonds between minerals ionically; gently and instantly liberating minerals in water and soil. My plants don’t have to recover from the application.

I have never tested or adjusted the pH of my water or soil. I had already learned by working at HCT, that use of sulfur, gypsum and excessive nitrogen “bombs’ (as I like to call most fertilizers on the market) only exacerbate issues and often create new ones. I used to battle weeds and blight, but in my third summer I can hardly find either anywhere on the property. And my usage of WaterSOLV has decreased significantly. In fact I have had to add extra organic material as the soil has begun to drain almost too quickly.

My dad, Todd Eden, the owner of HCT LLC and creator of WaterSOLV, has been an innovative chemist since he was in his 20s, so suffice to say, I’ve been learning from an expert for a long time. But I still had no idea just how powerful WaterSOLV was until I applied it to my own soil and watched it work over time. And now I couldn’t imagine growing anything without it.
