We have treated over 60 turf facilities since 2016 in AZ, CO, TX, CA, NV. Each one faced common challenges; lack of infiltration, black matter, iron oxide/iron bacteria, puddling, fairy ring, sodium toxicity, hard pan, present yet unavailable nutrition, the same problematic brown spots, shells plugging sprinklers.

From 100% reclaimed water, hard water, soft water, blended water, canal, pond, estuary, well water, and varying conditions like rainfall, wind, heat, evapotranspiration, elevation, humidity; all of these variables have been normalized successfully with two chemical additives exceeding the expectations of more than 60 golf course superintendents (and 3 million acres of agriculture and nurseries).  

We have converted water hardness, soil scale and bound up fertilizer to available nutrition at pH values of over neutral 7.0, often shocking and delighting rightfully skeptical industry veteran groundskeepers and agronomists.


We have overcome black layer and also detoxified sodium so that it releases and can actually flush or respirate through vegetation without cell damage. We have restored infiltration through water treatment, so effective, you can aerify and not break a tine and even flush pigments out of the greens!

Visible signs of improved vitality present not only through the turf but through the shrubs and trees at 60 to 150 days on +/- 5 gallons of chemistry per million gallons of water, at a lower overall cost, with an average of 10% less water.  

Since September of 2016 when we started our first turf trial to May 2019 we have enjoyed a 100% success rate, predictable costs, predictable results and getting closer to predictable timing. It’s sustainable chemistry, and a look at biology outside the box of conventional wisdom.  The feedback has exceeded even our expectations.

WaterSOLV™ Curative is an injectable and at an average of 3-6 ppm displaces sulfurous acid products 10:1 (one gl WaterSOLV™ Curative does more than 10 gallons of 98% sulfuric acid and 20 gallons of N-pHuric). Ion exchange with bicarbonate to form quazi amino acid acetates (nutritional form of the cations) with proprietary chemistry.


WaterSOLV™ BC is an injectable applied at usually less than 1 ppm.  We describe it as continuous chemical aerification sustaining an aerobic soil and vegetation environment that overcomes anoxic conditions.

The Problems

Aeration, wetter and more effective nutrients, more water.

HCT’s Approach

Water has basic characteristics as to its properties and how it will affect where it is used. These properties are defined by the waters “solvency” and its’ biological profiles. We chemically exchange places with bicarbonate and add a proton to chloride converting once soluble salts, back to stable soluble salts, where they can process through the soil profile and be available for uptake. WaterSOLV™ BC adds oxygen and water to the aeration process to further mitigate anaerobic black layer, without damage to organic matter and turf yellowing.


Today, for solvency, HCT subscribes to the LSI Index – a calculation between pH, TDS, Calcium, Alkalinity and water temperature. The matrix rates the waters tendency to deposit scale or to break down scale. HCT also looks at sulfate and sometimes iron levels to assess their correlation to the process with the water quality. For example, a high sulfate level in a scale forming water quality would cause the need for biological treatment and alkalinity reduction, where if the sulfate levels were still high and scale forming water quality not a factor, just the biological treatment would be prescribed.    



HCT’s exposure to turf was solicited for salt and mineral remediation with a side benefit of mussel remediation. Much to our surprise, mussel remediation in sprinkler heads got our foot in the door. Treated course water at 3 gallons of product per million gallons of water (3 ppm), has been successful by initially opening any completely clogged sprayers. The entire course receives the treated water. Treatment levels were to 6 ppm for salt and mineral remediation based on water and soil profile analysis. HCT is looking forward to treating black layers on greens this coming season during aeration.
